In the wacky world of comics in 1967, camp was king. Everyone was doing it in the wake of the Batman tv show — although, to a certain extent, Batman itself was the natural successor to the ‘proto-camp’ of Goldfinger and Thunderball — DC, Tower, Dell,  Harvey, even Archie. While Archie Comics had a super-hero imprint in the form of Mighty Comics, home of The Mighty Crusaders, Steel Sterling, the Web and Flyman, it also felt the need to add a bit of camp super-heroics to its teen line. And thus, for a brief period, Archie’s pal Jughead became the caped and crowned Captain Hero!

Zap! Bam! Pow! indeed.
