Batman #194

Batman #194, August 1967

At around this period, DC started to experiment with cover design and there are many examples to enjoy. For much of the late ’60s and early ’70s, most covers were based upon rough designs by Carmine Infantino. The kind of approach seen here was thought to be something of a gamble as the racking of comics would hide the title if it didn’t appear in its traditional place at the top of the cover. It looks fabulous though!
