The Brave and the Bold #24, July 1959

Another marvelous cover from Joe Kubert fronts the second (and final) all-Kubert Viking Prince issue of B&B. This was still in the aerly days when the title actually meant something: referring to tales of derring do featuring the likes of Robin Hood, Viking Prince, and Silent Knight. From the next issue B&B became a tryout title along the lines of Showcase, with the first to benefit from this change of direction being the Suicide Squad.

Note how huge the Comics Code Authority stamp was in those days: so big it partially obscures the logo! At that point the CCA was only five years old and its seal of approval carried weight. Is the CCA even still extant today?
