Hot Wheels #6, Feb 1971

Another typically fabulous cover from the pen of Neal Adams. This very striking design includes a rather more murderous take on Santa than perhaps we are used to…

Hot Wheels was a short-lived (6 issue) title based on a toy line and its associated cartoon spin-off. It’s mainly distinguished by the quality of its artwork, with most issues featuring work from Alex Toth. This issue has a long strip drawn by Neal Adams — but was clearly insufficient to stave off the axe of cancellation.

I’m quite surprised to discover that the link between the Hot Wheels line of toy cars and DC Comics characters is still current.
