Our Army at War #237

Our Army at War #237, October 1971

Here’s a striking cover image from the master of the striking cover image, Joe Kubert. Kubert’s remarkable career spans the whole of comics’ history. He started out as an assistant to Will Eisner in the Eisner and Iger studio in the late 1930s and continues to produce brilliant work right up to the present day. Never a fan of super-heroes, he’s largely shunned them, preferring instead to work on war and adventure strips. Sgt Rock is sprobably his signature character, but he also wrote and drew the definitive comics Tarzan in the early 1970s.
