Occasionally lightning does strike twice. Steve Ditko, after a couple of years in the Charlton wilderness, following his sudden departure from Marvel, arrived at DC and promptly offered up two brand new creations. The Creeper was a bit of a madcap take on the super-hero, whereas Hawk and Dove strove to put the ideological battle between war-makers and pacifists (then raging on campuses up and down the land) into a super-hero context.

Neither concept lasted very long initially but both ultimately enjoyed a certain kind of longevity, popping up from time to time either in new titles, reboots, or guest-star roles.
