This is a beautiful book! It’s a large-size, coffee table style volume that takes a quick tour of the most important comics artists of the Silver Age. Includes: Jack Kirby, Neal Adams, Carmine Infantino, Jim Steranko, Steve Ditko, Joe Kubert… and many more.

Not a comprehensive overview, its text is limited mainly to pithy quotes from the artists themselves. Instead, the focus is very much on the art. Page after page of glorious images, cleaned up, blended and juxtaposed to fabulous effect. From Infantino’s early Flash efforts though to Kirby’s departure from Marvel and the rise of the new wave with Neal Adams, the sweep of the Silver Age is captured for all to see. The occasional full — and even double-page — spreads lend the art real impact.
