Stanley and His Monster: a comic that possibly could only have been created in the Sixties. “We’ll have a bit of this… add a little bit of that… and let’s have the ghost of Napoleon..! Ooh yeah… pass the pipe…” It ran for a while as a back up to The Fox and the Crow, before graduating to its own title–well, actually, it just took over the book from the vermin and the fowl. And then died three issues later.

Ah, well. They can’t all be hits. It will come as no surprise that all this was going on at the same time as DC was trying to launch Brother Power, the Geek as the next big thing.
