Created by the extremely important and influential Sheldon Mayer, the babies Sugar and Spike starred in one of DC’s longest-running titles. The pair notched up an impressive 98 issues before succumbing to the inevitable economic forces in the early 1970s. This ad is for one of the final issues when the the whole DC line had switched to the giant-sized (48, 52, or 64-page) format. A 99th issue, featuring previously unpublished material, eventually appeared in 1992 a short time after Mayer’s death.
